The Visband is a visual “aide” that, when worn, hinders the user's vision. The headgear is a headband with thin pieces of circular and square glass that hangs down in front of the eyes. The glass is meant to blur the user's vision and reflect light. I have always thought that wearing glasses was such a bother and that I would rather not be able to see than wear them. In doing so, I have noticed I feel the most calm and relief when I cannot see. Without my glasses, I walk around confidently; since I cannot see the faces of the people around me I do not worry about what they think of me. I created this headgear as an extension of how my eyes naturally are. I wanted to replicate the space/state I can easily turn to – because it is a part of me – when I am feeling overwhelmed. While creating this project I realized in 3D model I had the potential to create absolutely anything I wanted and I decided to create a halo with basic shapes hanging from. It seems like a simple enough idea but it took some time and trial and error to get used to working on three different axes instead of the usual two.
